John's Rune Charm

During the first semester of Senior year in High School (about a year and a few months ago), I had to make a rune for English IV, using three Runes. I had made that rune and a few others from clay I got out of the ground in my back-yard. I had made one for my brother specifically. Anyway, he liked it and kept it but apparently it was broken when he left it at a friend's house and when they brought it in their purse to give to him it crumbled. To be fare, I had baked them in the oven, and I assume since it was heat-dried, the clay had expanded allowing air in, therefore making them brittle. This is the design for his new one, which incorporates a triquetra (as a way of branching the Celtic and Christian symbols, seeing as the triquetra/trinity is used in Catholicism yet it has Celtic roots) and a cross. He is more religious as a Christian than I...in fact, I'm not a practicing Christian at all. He goes to church (which I find unnecessary). I thought the added Christian symbols would make it easier for him to carry it without feeling odd or embarrassed as much (I believe he had it hidden in the shoulder pocket of his BDU's). The Runes are (going clockwise): Algiz, rune of protection; Teiwas, rune of the warrior; Raido, rune of journey.

He's going overseas soon. I would make one for my other brother (who's also going overseas soon) but I don't think he believes in it. He also get's worried about certain things being "against the bible" and then other times switches to moods in which he says the bible is mostly crap that people added and miss-interpreted. He'd probably throw it out.
